Welcome to the Presidential Home Tour
American history and travel make for a great combination. Syd and I set out on an adventure that would take us across the country to several US Presidential homes and gravesites. From Mount Vernon, where the plantation was home to George Washington and his wife Martha lived for 45 years to Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello. Perhaps the most stunning of all the Presidential residencies, Monticello was built specifically to impress the foreign dignitaries of the day with a sense of the United States’ newly claimed independence and power in the world. Syd and I would also visit Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln home which is the centerpiece of a four-block historic neighborhood where they lived until his election to the Presidency.
